Become an Energy Champion

Are you concerned about climate change and want to help your community reduce carbon emissions? Or perhaps you’d like to help people conserve energy, save money on their energy bills and create warmer, healthier homes next winter. 

If so, this role is for you! You can do it as a volunteer or as a part-time paid role. 

We currently have job opportunities for local Energy Champions in Essex. Enquiries and applications are open to people over the age of 18 who are happy to work in Uttlesford, Maldon and Tendring Districts of Essex.

What does an Energy Champion do?

  • Give energy efficiency advice. 
  • Attend energy efficiency events and advice clinics. 
  • Provide knowledgeable and trusted support. 
  • Enjoy flexible working hours and be able to work some evenings and weekends.

You will need to be able to:

  • Have a friendly disposition.  
  • Talk to members of the public sympathetically and confidently. 
  • Complete our Energy Champions course. 
  • Give advice that is correct and knowledgeable.  
  • Be prepared to support vulnerable and non-digital people.  
  • Provide advice at events in your community. 

Get trained up for free!

The training course involves an in person one day training course in your district; there are follow-up online modules to gain additional skills such as training to use the Fairer Warmth online tool to create energy efficiency plans for the people you advise.
