What does an Energy Champion do?
- Give energy efficiency advice.
- Attend energy efficiency events and advice clinics.
- Provide knowledgeable and trusted support.

The training course involves an in person one day training course. There are follow-up online modules to gain additional skills such as training to use the Fairer Warmth online tool to create energy efficiency plans for householders.

Energy Champion job opportunities:
Energy Champion vacancy : Essex
Community Energy South is looking for someone to bring trusted, reliable, expert advice on how to save energy at home to people through face-to-face events and advice clinics in their local communities.
This role is for someone who wants to take practical action on climate change and who enjoys working with people – and you can do it as a volunteer or as a part-time paid role, with the potential for career progression into a green economy full-time job.
Working hours: The work will be flexible to work around your lifestyle, and is expected to be no more than 24 hours per month, aiming for two or three events/sessions averaging around 6 hours per week. You may be needed to work in the evenings and at weekends, but this will be agreed with you in advance.
Hours per week: roughly 6-8 hours a week (but this may flex depending on events scheduling).
Hourly rate: £17 per hour.
Terms of employment: You will be retained by Community Energy South on a self-employed basis, at least initially. You will need to use a timesheet to track your time.
Location: Maldon, Tendring and Uttlesford districts, Essex.
Energy Champions Co-ordinator vacancy: Essex
We’re looking for someone to find and create opportunities for Energy Champions and liaise with community organizations and venues to host events for providing advice. As coordinator, you will co-ordinate and motivate a team of Energy Champions to attend events and regular Energy Clinics.
Hours per week: roughly two days a week (based on 8 hours per day including half an hour for lunch) but this may flex depending on events scheduling.
Hourly rate: £26.50 per hour.
Terms of employment: Contract from March 2024-March 2025, can be on a self-employed basis.
Location: Maldon, Tendring and Uttlesford districts, Essex.
OVESCO Energy Champion vacancy : Lewes
OVESCO is currently recruiting for their Energy Champions team and full training will be provided when you start.
Role: Deliver energy advice to a wide range of householders in the area to help motivate and enable them to take action to reduce their fuel bills, cut carbon emissions and make their homes warmer and more comfortable.
Job title: Climate & Energy Champion
Base: Lewes District, East Sussex
Salary: £15 per hour gross
Hours: Flexible, Monday – Friday & some weekends, based in and around the district area/community
Total Hours: Max 15 per week
Contract: Freelance for 12 months but with a strong possibility of extending dependent on funding
