What is
Community Energy?
Net zero needs buy-in from everyone. In the community energy sector people work together to reduce energy use and generate low carbon heat and power.
Community energy projects are often delivered by a group or organisation with a focus on community engagement, collective action and local leadership. They work towards towards strong, positive outcomes for the local community
Community groups often have distinct, specific localised goals with an overarching benefit of tackling climate change, energy security and making energy affordable.
Community Energy South enable local people to scale up the community energy sector across England. We support community energy groups to grow as sustainable low carbon businesses.
Enabling local people to scale up the community energy sector
Community Energy Pathways enables local authorities and communities to work collaboratively to accelerate the growth of the community energy sector across England. We support local authorities in delivering their climate change strategies and mentor established and emerging community energy groups in their area in help reach our Net Zero targets.
We are running Pathways with Essex, Hampshire, Suffolk, Central Bedfordshire, Surrey and the South Downs National Park.
All local authorities are invited to join our Pathways programme to establish a thriving community energy sector in their area.
